Resolving Credit Card Debt:
How does it work?
When we consider resolving credit card debt we think of ways and means of preserving our lot. Total U.K. household debt burden as of year end 2008 stood at a staggering 1,457bn. That has dropped to 3.6% over the last year which is an increase of around fifty billion pounds sterling. Overall borrowing in the month of December last year expanded by 2.2bn; lending secured on personal property grew by 1.9bn that month; unsecured consumer lending increased by 0.3 billion in the month as well. Average household debt in the U.K. comes in at around 60,000 (including secured loans). The average amount of money owed by every British adult is around 30,400 (includes secured loans). The average outstanding secured loan for the 12 million households who have outstanding mortgages at the time of writing stands in the region of 105,000.
Here are more fairly stark statistics: 252 million is payable in interest alone in Britain daily. 124 homes are repossessed by the banks daily; nearly 1,500 workers are put out of work daily, meanwhile someone is declared insolvent every 5 minutes.
But it hasn't just been ordinary people like you and me who have clearly borne the brunt of this. Company failure have risen to a nearly unprecedented level over the last few years and the marked increase has been particularly noticeable in the years coming up to the recession. For Q4 2008 three thousand limited companies went into creditors voluntary liquidation and this was a 62% rise on the same quarter in 2007. British companies are set to face a very challenging environment indeed. In the context of resolving credit card debt this situation poses a trial for everyone.
