Restructuring Credit Card Debt Service:
How does it work?
When we start to consider restructuring credit card debt service we think of ways and means of advancing our life style. Total United Kingdom individual liability as December 2008 was a staggering 1,457bn. This has continued to slow down to 3.6 percent in the last four quarters which equates to an increase of around 50bn. Overall borrowing in the month of December 2008 increased by over two billion pounds sterling; lending secured on property escalated by nearly two billion pounds that same month; personal consumer lending escalated by 0.3bn during that month as well. The average British household debt is around 60,000 (includes secured loans). The average amount owed by every British adult is around 30,400 (that includes secured loans). Average unsettled mortgage for some 12m households who have mortgages now is about 105,000.
Some other rather solemn figures: 252 million is payable in interest alone in Britain every day. 124 homes are taken back by the banks every day. 1,490 people are put out of work on a daily basis, and also someone is made bankrupt every 5 minutes.
But it has not only been people like you and me who have had to bear this recession. Business insolvent cases has increased dramatically recently and the rise has been prevalent in the recent years culminating in the recession. In Q4 2008 three thousand companies went into liquidation and this was a sixty two percent increase on Q4 in 2007. British businesses have rarely faced a more challenging economic environment. When looked at in terms of restructuring credit card debt service this situation poses a challenging trial for us all.
